The 20 centimetre wing span made a small shadow on the grass. It prepared for a landing, it glanced at a brown wooden fence.

Perfect landing.

It’s small heart could now rest for a couple of seconds. It’s head jerked back and forth to make sure that the area was safe. It let out a small chirp and was immediately accompanied by two more comrades. They began to chirp at the same time, it sounded like a small orchestra. Their chirping stopped because they sensed something approaching. It was a pitter-patter of a small boy. The birds stared at him noticing that he was danger. They waited a couple of seconds.

The boy stopped.

The birds stared.

The boy tilted his head to the left and stuck out his right arm abruptly. The birds took flight and away from the danger. The little boy ran back to the house. Looking back from the door he saw that the three birds were on the fence again.

This time he let them be.
